The Royal Canadian Legion is a democratic organization, the Branch Executive is elected by the branch membership annually each spring with the assistance of another local branch.

Branch President & Membership Chair Comrade Jerry Derochie, CD Comrade Jerry rejoined the legion in 2015. He is a veteran with 35 years of service in the Canadian Army serving with the Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry Highlanders and the Lorne Scots (PD&H Regiment). After relinquishing command of the Lorne Scots, he continued to serve in various headquarters such as Hamilton Militia District Headquarters, Land Force Central Area Headquarters and with the Militia Command and Staff Course in Kingston as the Chief Instructor for Land Force Central Area. Comrade Jerry still maintains contact with the Lorne Scots serving as Regimental Secretary for the Senate, Secretary-Treasurer for the Lorne Scot Trust, and a member of the Museum Committee. As well, Comrade Jerry is a cadet liaison officer for the Army Cadet League. Comrade Jerry is a retired school teacher with the Peel Board of Education. |

Branch Past President Comrade President Brian Capon Comrade Brian has been a member of the Legion since 1976, joining Branch 98 in Montreal. He transferred to Branch 15 in 1990. He has served on the Executive Committee since 2001, serving as the Treasurer, Honours & Awards Chair, 2nd Vice President, 1st Vice President, 3rd Vice President, Membership Chair, Branch President and Colour Party Guard Member. He currently serves as the President, Sunday Mixed Dart League President and 132 Spitfire Liaison Officer. He is also a member of the Zone B7 Track and Field Council. He has been awarded the Certificate of Appreciation and the Certificate of Merit from the Branch, as well as the 75th and 90th Legion Anniversary Medals. Comrade Brian spent 25 years as a quotation supervisor and currently works as Counter/Order Desk Manager. |

1st Vice-President, Poppy Chair and Parade Commander Comrade Henry Verschuren Comrade Henry joined the Lorne Scots (PD&H Regiment) 46 years ago. He became Lead Drummer in 1975 and was appointed Drum Major from 1978 to 1984. In 1998 he transferred to the Regimental Band of the Lorne Scots as The Director of Music, retiring from that position in 2008, he continues to compose/arrange music for the pipe bands, concert bands and choir as well as raise funds for the Pipe Band. He is a Life Member of the Regimental Association of The Lorne Scots. Comrade Henry has been involved in Remembrance activities in Brampton since the mid- 1970s. He took on a leadership role as Parade Commander in 1997 and is now in his 20th year. In November 2011, he introduced a March Past, Roll Past, and Fly Past in the same Parade for the 1st time. He has also developed new parades/ceremonies in Brampton such as Candle Light Vigils, a July 1st Veterans of Foreign Service Parade and more. Comrade Henry joined the Legion in 2000 and he was elected to the Executive in 2017. He is a strong advocate for Veterans and appears before City Council on a regular basis to that end. He has been awarded the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteer Service, the Canadian Forces Decoration, The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, The Minister of Veteran Affairs Commendation and Royal Canadian Legion medals for Parade Commander, Branch Service, 90th Anniversary Medal, Army Cadet Service Medal and has also received a City of Brampton Long Term Volunteer Service Award in the 35+ years category. In 2017 he, along with Comrade Chris Banks, successfully advocated to the City of Brampton to improve the awareness of Remembrance Week by hanging banners of local Veterans along Main Street and host commercials of a select number of Veterans for the City’s social media platforms; this was covered in an article by CBC. |

3rd Vice-President & Service Officer Comrade Robert Walsh, MB, CD Comrade Robert has been a member of the Legion since 1988. He initially joined Branch No 4 in Iqaluit, Nunavut and transferred to Branch 15 in 1991. He has been sitting on the Executive for a number of years. Robert is a life-long volunteer who has been awarded the Governor General’s Medal of Bravery, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal and the Canadian Forces Decoration. A teacher by profession and temperament, he has taught in Nova Scotia, Nigeria, Nunavut, and Ontario. Having sailed the Panama Canal with the Sea Cadets at 15, Robert went on to serve as a member of the Cadet Instructors Cadre (CIC) while living and working in Nunavut. When he moved to Ontario, he joined Lorne Scots (PD&H Regiment) and served 14 years in the Army Reserves where he was a Platoon Commander, Recruiting Officer and Unit Information Officer. |

Treasurer Comrade Shannon Campbell Comrade Shannon joined the Branch in 2003 and has served 12 years on the Executive Committee. She has served as the 132 Spitfire Air Cadet Liaison, Youth & Education Officer, Honours & Awards Officer, Secretary, Ways & Means Officer and Sports Officer. She believes that volunteerism is important to support the Legion. She has been a member of several school councils and Beaver Leader. |

Sports Officer Comrade Lynne Lafond Comrade Lynne joined the Legion in 2012. She has attended and volunteered for many functions as a member. In 2013 she joined the Colour Party and the Ladies Auxiliary and in 2015 she became a member of the Executive as the Honours and Awards Chairman as well as a member of the Ways & Means sub-committee. |

Youth & Education Officer Comrade Dave Bawtinheimer Comrade Dave has served in the Canadian Army in the RCEME Corps for 12 1/2 years. He was posted for 5 years to Germany and posted all over Canada. He has been a member of the branch since 2007. He has served on the Executive Committee since 2008 and has held the positions of 3rd Vice President, 1st Vice President and the Youth and Education Chair. He was the co-liaison for the 557 Army Cadets and is now the liaison for the HMCS Illustrious Cadet Corps. He is happily retired from a career as a millwright. He has been married to Comrade Shannon Campbell since 2009 and has 5 children together. |
